South Bengal experienced a sudden change in weather on Monday night with rain, thunderstorms, and even hail in some districts. The change became more intense by night, as showers lashed multiple areas, bringing down temperatures slightly and disrupting normal conditions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh update, indicating that the unsettled weather pattern is likely to persist over the next few days.

Cloudy skies, changing conditions ahead

According to the latest weather forecast for Wednesday in South Bengal, the day is likely to begin with overcast weather in most parts. As the day progresses, the situation may change with an increase in rain and thunderstorm possibilities in most parts.

In Bardhaman, Birbhum, Nadia, and Murshidabad districts, the day is likely to begin with partly cloudy weather. As the day progresses, the weather situation may become even more unpredictable with possibilities of rain/thunder in most parts.

Rain likely in western districts

The Met office has also indicated that scattered rainfall may occur in districts such as East and West Medinipur, Jhargram and Purulia. These areas could see intermittent showers, accompanied by gusty winds in some places.

While the rain may not be widespread, there is a possibility of a few isolated areas experiencing intense downpours of rain.

Kolkata sees night showers

Kolkata witnessed scattered showers last night, and as a result, the weather is taking a broader turn. On Wednesday, similar weather is expected, with intervals of light to moderate rain.

While the rain is expected, the temperatures will remain within the range of what is expected for the season. For Kolkata, the mercury is expected to rise to 33 degrees, with a dip in temperature to 24 degrees.

The Met department is also keeping an eye on the weather, as thunderstorms remain a major factor in the current weather in South Bengal.
