The 10th edition of the World Food Competition (WFC) 2026 concluded with a grand finale at the Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management (GNIHM) in Panihati, Kolkata, bringing together culinary professionals and aspiring chefs from across the world. Organised as part of a JIS Group educational initiative, the prestigious event attracted around 160 participants representing 40 countries, making it a vibrant celebration of global gastronomy, innovation, and culinary excellence.
The finale witnessed the presence of renowned culinary personalities, including celebrity master chefs Sanjeev Kapoor, Kunal Kapur, and Dr. Parvinder Singh Bali. Senior leadership from the JIS Group, including Director Sardar Simarpreet Singh, also attended the event, highlighting the institution’s commitment to promoting culinary education and global collaboration within the hospitality industry.
Three-day celebration of global cuisines and culinary innovation
The competition unfolded over three days, transforming the GNIHM campus into an international culinary arena. Participants showcased signature dishes representing the flavours and traditions of their respective countries, creating a diverse and colourful display of world cuisines.
Beyond the competition, the event served as an interactive platform where young chefs and hospitality students could engage directly with globally acclaimed culinary experts. Through demonstrations, discussions, and feedback sessions, participants gained valuable insights into emerging culinary techniques, global gastronomic trends, and professional kitchen practices.
The gathering also fostered cultural exchange, as chefs from different nations shared culinary philosophies and traditions through their food, strengthening international connections within the hospitality community.

Dibyajyoti Saha clinches top honour in chef competition
In the final results of the chef category, India’s Dibyajyoti Saha secured the first position, impressing the judges with culinary creativity and technical precision. Bonolo Lesupi from South Africa finished in second place, while Ni Luh Putu Aditi Satriani of Indonesia claimed the third spot.
Speaking at the event, JIS Group Director Sardar Simarpreet Singh described the competition as a celebration of culinary artistry and global collaboration, noting that the presence of talented chefs from around the world further strengthened the spirit of innovation, cultural exchange, and excellence in gastronomy.
