West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called an urgent meeting to address the emerging gas supply shortage in the state and discuss measures to prevent disruption in the supply chain.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, where officials will review the current situation and plan steps to manage the crisis. The state government is considering several measures to ensure that the gas supply chain continues without interruption.

The Chief Minister said instructions have already been issued to officials to maintain smooth distribution across the state.

State prepares measures to control situation

CM Banerjee said strict action would be taken to prevent black marketing of cooking gas. She added that district magistrates have been instructed to monitor the situation closely and take action wherever necessary.

The Chief Minister warned that authorities would seize gas cylinders from hoarders if needed to ensure fair distribution among consumers.

Concerns over gas shortage

Mamata Banerjee also raised concerns about the broader gas supply situation in the country. She said the Union government should explain the situation in Parliament.

She added that the Union government must plan properly to maintain the supply chain across the country.

The Chief Minister questioned why the issue of low gas reserves was not identified earlier and said advance planning could have helped avoid the current situation.

The state government is now focusing on preventing supply disruptions and ensuring that gas reaches households without interruption. Officials said the upcoming meeting will outline steps to deal with the shortage and maintain stable distribution across West Bengal.
