Train services on multiple lines, including the Howrah–Bardhaman main line, will remain suspended from Saturday night. The railways have issued this notification to facilitate underpass construction work in Hooghly.
Due to a scheduled power block for the underpass work in Rishra, train services will not operate from 10:40 pm on Saturday to 7:00 am on Sunday on the Howrah–Bardhaman main line, Eastern Railway said in a notice.
In Rishra town of Hooghly, there is a railway gate that connects the eastern and western parts of the area. Daily commuters often face difficulties crossing it near the station. Once the gate is closed, residents are left waiting for long periods, causing significant inconvenience.

Eastern Railway has also announced a four-hour traffic block at Sealdah station for non-interlocking work. The block will be in place from 11:50 pm on Saturday, March 28, to 3:50 am on Sunday, March 29. Due to this, several trains have been cancelled, while some services have been rescheduled or curtailed.
