An argument over DJ music and dancing escalated into a scuffle and later a violent clash, resulting in the death of one person. The incident took place in Khan Para under Sahapur gram panchayat in Howrah’s Panchla police station area. According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Faruq Sheikh, a resident of the same locality. Police have arrested three accused in connection with the investigation.

According to local sources, a fresh dispute erupted between two groups over an old feud. On Thursday evening, several members of Faruq's family were returning home after offering prayers at the mosque. At that time, a group of young men and women were dancing on the street with DJ music playing. They got into an altercation with Faruq's group. A fight broke out between the two sides.
Victim attacked while trying to intervene
It is alleged that several people pounced on Faruq's family members and started beating them. When Faruq tried to save them, he was brutally beaten. He was seriously injured. He was quickly taken to Uluberia Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Panchla police station has filed a murder case and started investigation. An official of Howrah Rural District Police said three women have already been arrested. Efforts are being made to catch more accused. A murder case has been filed against them and investigation has begun.

According to police and local sources, the incident began on Monday. Since that day, loud music celebrations were being held regularly in that area. Some people in the area objected. Among those who objected was the deceased Faruq. Faruq's family alleges that since Monday, they had been targeted with taunts for several days. On Thursday evening, trouble broke out when Faruq and others were returning home after prayers. Faruq and several others were brutally beaten. This led to Faruq's death.
