A fire broke out on the rally stage of Abhishek Banerjee during an election campaign in Birbhum’s Labhpur on Friday afternoon.
The Trinamool Congress national general secretary had just stepped off the stage at the Ma Phullara Mela ground when the incident occurred. According to initial media reports, a short circuit is believed to have triggered the fire moments after his exit.
Thick smoke quickly spread across the area, causing panic among those present at the venue. However, no injuries have been reported so far.
