A rift between the Thakur brothers had developed as early as last August over control of Matua card distribution camps and activities at the Matua Sangha. Amid the Matua community's uncertainty over SIR, the disagreement between the two brothers at Thakurbari has once again become public. BJP MLA Subrata Thakur protested against his own party's district president Bikash Ghosh, for not announcing the name of the BJP Mandal president. On Sunday, Subrata's followers are accused of chaining and padlocking Bikash's car. BJP Union Minister Shantanu Thakur is also not seeing this matter favourably. Trinamool has taunted that the BJP's infighting will escalate further.
What happened in Thakurnagar
Subrata Thakur's followers allege that BJP's Bongaon organisational district president Bikash Ghosh has not announced the name of Gaighata Mandal-1 president for four months. Meanwhile, on Sunday afternoon, the district BJP president came to Thakurbari to meet Shantanu Thakur. It is alleged that at that time, followers of Gaighata MLA Subrata Thakur chained and padlocked his car wheels.
Subrata said, "District president Bikash Ghosh has been saying for four months that he will appoint a Gaighata area mandal president. But he's not doing it. When I call him, he doesn't answer the phone. Due to the absence of a mandal president, Trinamool and Left parties are gaining ground in that area. As a result, resentment has built up among workers."

Shantanu Thakur reacts
Hearing about the padlocking of the district president's car, MP Shantanu Thakur rushed to the spot. He seldom removed the chains from the car. Meanwhile, there was a brief argument between Shantanu Thakur and Subrata Thakur. Shantanu Thakur said, "If there were any complaints about the mandal president, that could have been discussed sitting down. Subrata Thakur did not do well by padlocking the car."

Trinamool Congress seizes opportunity
Trinamool Congress did not miss the opportunity to taunt about the infighting between the two BJP leaders. Rajya Sabha MP Mamatabala Thakur remarked, "We heard the noise. There was argument between the two brothers. We learned that they had padlocked the president's car. This is BJP's matter, but there will be more such infighting in the future."
