Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone lineup, led by the Galaxy S26 Ultra, may arrive later than expected. According to new reports from South Korean industry sources, Samsung is planning to delay the launch of its next-generation Galaxy S series, moving away from its usual mid-January unveiling window.

For several years, Samsung has followed a consistent launch schedule, announcing its Galaxy S Ultra models early in the year. However, the new information suggests that the company is now revising its strategy for the Galaxy S26 series, resulting in a noticeable shift in its launch timeline.

Revised launch schedule

As per the latest reports, Samsung is expected to host its Galaxy Unpacked event in mid-February 2026 instead of January. This would mean the Galaxy S26 Ultra will debut a few weeks later than previous models. Retail availability is likely to begin around two weeks after the official announcement, with the devices expected to hit stores by late February or early March.

Despite the delay, Samsung is still expected to complete the launch before major global tech events such as the Mobile World Congress, which usually takes place in early March. This would allow the company to present its latest hardware and software updates ahead of competitors at the annual trade show.

What’s causing Samsung to push back the Galaxy S26 Ultra launch?

The delay is reportedly linked to internal changes in Samsung’s product planning. The company is said to be re-evaluating the structure of its flagship lineup, particularly the models positioned between the base Galaxy S26 and the Ultra version. Factors such as pricing strategy, component availability, and performance upgrades are also believed to have played a role in the revised schedule.

Another possible reason is Samsung’s chipset strategy. Reports suggest that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may use Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon processor globally, which could require additional testing and supply coordination before large-scale production begins.

While official specifications are yet to be confirmed, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to continue focusing on advanced camera features, premium display quality, and enhanced on-device AI capabilities, alongside software improvements.
