The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned the Iranian missile attacks that targeted the country and several neighbouring nations. These acts represent a clear violation of national sovereignty and an infringement of international law and the United Nations Charter, the UAE said, reported Gulf News.

'Targeting of civilians and civilian objects strictly prohibited under international law'

The UAE also expressed sincere condolences to the family of the Pakistani national who lost his life due to these attacks and expressed solidarity with them. The UAE emphasised that attacking civilians and civilian objects is clearly prohibited under international law and humanitarian principles.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) affirmed the UAE’s support for the countries in the region affected by these attacks. It highlighted that their security is interconnected. Any violation of one country's sovereignty is a direct threat to the security and stability of the entire region, reported Gulf News.

Warns of grave consequences

The UAE firmly rejected using regional states as battlegrounds for settling disputes or escalating conflicts. It warned of the serious consequences of ongoing violations, which could undermine both regional and international security and jeopardise global economic stability and energy security.

The UAE called for restraint and encouraged diplomatic solutions and serious dialogue. It emphasised that these approaches are the best ways to address the current crisis and maintain regional security and stability.

The UAE reiterated that it has the full right to respond to these attacks in a way that protects its sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity. It will ensure the safety of its citizens and residents, in accordance with international law. The UAE will not accept any threats to its security or sovereignty under any circumstances.
