Qatar has suspended all public events, gatherings and entertainment activities until further notice after multiple waves of explosions were heard across the sky in the capital, Doha. The precautionary move comes amid heightened security concerns, with authorities prioritising public safety as investigations continue into the source of the blasts.
Public events and entertainment activities are suspended
In an official statement, Qatar announced the immediate halt of all public events across the country. The suspension covers entertainment programmes at hotels, tourism sites and other venues that typically host large crowds. Organisers and venue operators have been directed to comply with the order until further guidance is issued.

The directive affects concerts, cultural programmes, corporate gatherings and other social events scheduled in the coming days. While authorities have not disclosed how long the measures will remain in place, the use of “until further notice” suggests the restrictions will depend on evolving security assessments.
Ramadan tents and iftars called off
The suspension also extends to Ramadan-related events. All Ramadan tents and iftar gatherings hosted by hotels and tourist venues have been halted. These tents traditionally serve as key social and corporate spaces during the holy month, hosting community iftars, company dinners and government-sponsored events.
