The Embassy of India in Riyadh has clarified that no Indian national was killed in the projectile strike that hit a residential area in Al Kharj, after earlier reports suggested an Indian casualty.
In a statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), on Monday, the embassy said the Indian national involved in the incident survived and is currently receiving treatment at a government hospital in Al Kharj.
âIt is a matter of relief that there has been no Indian fatality in the unfortunate incident at Al Kharj yesterday evening,â the embassy said. It added that officials remain in contact with Saudi authorities regarding the matter.
According to the embassy, Counsellor (Community Welfare) Y. Sabir visited Al Kharj and met the injured Indian national at the hospital.

The incident was first reported by Agence France-Presse, citing a statement from Saudi Civil Defence.
Authorities said a military projectile struck a residential site in Al Kharj governorate, killing two people and injuring several others.
âA military munition fell on a residential site, resulting in two deaths and 12 injuries among residents in Al-Kharj Governorate,â the civil defence agency said in its initial statement.

In a later clarification, officials confirmed that the two people killed were Bangladeshi nationals, while 11 other Bangladeshi citizens and one Indian national were injured in the blast.
Earlier reports had mistakenly suggested that an Indian citizen was among those killed.
Strategic location amid widening regional conflict
The projectile strike occurred near Prince Sultan Air Base, one of Saudi Arabiaâs most significant military installations located in Al Kharj.
The area has become increasingly sensitive as tensions escalate across the region following the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Earlier on Sunday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had targeted radar systems in several locations, including sites in Saudi Arabiaâs Al Kharj region.
The strike highlights the growing risks faced by civilian populations across the Gulf, including the large number of migrant workers from South Asia living in the region.
