The first round of high-level negotiations between the United States and Iran under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concluded in Burgenstock, Switzerland, with mediators Qatar and Pakistan outlining a series of steps aimed at advancing diplomacy and easing regional tensions.
In a joint statement issued after the Lake Lucerne Summit, the mediators said the discussions took place in a "positive and constructive atmosphere", setting the stage for further engagement between the two sides.

One of the key outcomes of the talks was the creation of a High Level Committee that will provide political oversight of the mediation process.

Under the agreed framework, chief negotiators from both sides will report regularly to the committee. They will also lead working groups focused on key areas including nuclear issues, sanctions, monitoring mechanisms and dispute resolution.
The committee has approved a roadmap designed to reach a final agreement within 60 days. The decision paves the way for technical-level discussions, which are scheduled to continue in Switzerland throughout the week.

Communication channel for Strait of Hormuz
The parties also agreed to establish a dedicated communication mechanism aimed at preventing incidents and misunderstandings during the negotiation period outlined in the MoU.
According to the joint statement, the channel is intended to support the safe movement of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important maritime route that carries a significant share of global energy supplies.
Lebanon de-confliction mechanism agreed
Another major development from the summit was the decision to set up a de-confliction cell involving the negotiating parties and the Lebanese Republic, with Qatar and Pakistan serving as facilitators.
The mechanism is intended to ensure compliance with the termination of military operations in Lebanon as provided for under the MoU.
Technical discussions to continue
Although the first round of high-level talks has concluded, negotiations are far from over. Technical discussions on all outstanding issues will continue at the Burgenstock resort for the remainder of the week.
Qatar and Pakistan said they would continue working to maintain a constructive atmosphere for dialogue and thanked both the United States and Iran for their commitment to diplomacy and a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
