Amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia and its impact on global markets, gold and silver prices continued to fluctuate in Kolkata. While both metals saw a significant drop on Friday, the changes on Saturday were comparatively modest.
In Saturday’s market, the price of 24-carat gold in Kolkata declined by ₹450 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, the price of 22-carat jewellery gold fell by ₹500 per 10 grams.
Silver, on the other hand, registered a slight increase. The price of silver in Kolkata rose by ₹500 per kilogram.

However, the fluctuations remained relatively small compared to the sharp changes recorded on Friday, indicating a temporary stabilisation in the bullion market.
Saturday (March 14) gold rates in the Kolkata market: (excluding tax)
Pure gold bar (24 carat): 1 lakh 57 thousand 800 rupees (per 10 grams)
Pure gold bar (retail): 1 lakh 58 thousand 550 rupees (per 10 grams)
Hallmarked jewellery gold (22 carat): 1 lakh 50 thousand 700 rupees (per 10 grams)
Silver (retail): 2 lakh 59 thousand 50 rupees (per kilogram)
