Crisil teams up with IIT Kanpur to push AI research and innovation

Crisil has signed an MoU with IIT Kanpur to strengthen AI and intelligent systems research, offering students exposure to real-world challenges and industry insights.

Crisil Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Wadhwani School of AI & Intelligent Systems (WSAIS) at IIT Kanpur to strengthen collaboration in artificial intelligence and intelligent systems. The initiative aims to deepen engagement between industry and academia while building skills aligned with emerging technologies.

Focus on industry-academia collaboration

The partnership is designed to create meaningful opportunities for students and researchers to work on industry-relevant challenges. It brings together Crisil's industry expertise and IIT Kanpur's academic strengths to support innovation in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, robotics, and intelligent systems.

Pooja Mirchandani, President & CHRO of Crisil, said, "Our partnership with IIT Kanpur is an exemplar of industry- academia collaboration that supports student learning and develops talent that is equipped to meet the challenges of emerging technologies."

As part of the agreement, a Crisil Lecture Series will be introduced at IIT Kanpur. The series will feature experts from both industry and academia, offering insights into evolving technologies and practical applications.

In addition, a Crisil Student Award will be instituted. The award will be presented annually during the IIT Kanpur convocation to recognise outstanding academic performance among students of the Department of Intelligent Systems.

Opportunities for students

Crisil has also expressed interest in expanding engagement through recruitment visits for internships and interactions with students. The company plans to encourage students to work on real-world industry problems, helping them gain hands-on experience.

Prof. Nitin Saxena, Dean of WSAIS, said, "We are excited to partner with Crisil Limited. This collaboration will provide our students with industry exposure and opportunities to work on real-world AI challenges."
