Education Minister Bratya Basu on Saturday made a key announcement regarding Secondary examination admit cards. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the minister said the enrollment portal will be reopened for all eligible candidates who could not receive their enrollment and admit cards for the 2026 Secondary examination due to negligence by schools.
Basu said that the decision was taken on the instructions of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure that no eligible student is deprived of appearing for the examination. He added that the move would allow affected students to complete the enrollment process and obtain their admit cards in time for the exams.

Bratya Basu announced that the online enrollment portal will remain open again from 12 noon on January 27 to 12 noon on January 28. In his X post, the Education Minister wrote, "The School Education Department and West Bengal Board of Secondary Education have taken an active role to protect the interests of all eligible candidates who were deprived of enrollment and admit cards for the 2026 Secondary examination due to school negligence."
He also added, "Accordingly, the online enrollment portal will remain open again from 12 noon on 27/01/26 to 12 noon on 28/01/26, so that no eligible candidate is deprived of the opportunity to participate in the examination."

At the same time, the Education Minister announced that appropriate administrative measures will also be taken to ensure that such errors do not occur again by school authorities in the future. The 2026 Secondary examination will begin on February 2. It will continue until February 12. The examination will start at 10:45 AM and continue until 2 PM. Candidates will get the first 15 minutes to read the question paper.
