Actor Ranveer Singh has found himself in fresh legal trouble. Recently, a complaint was filed against the 'Dhurandhar' actor in Bengaluru. A Karnataka High Court lawyer has accused the actor of mocking worship rituals depicted in the film Kantara: Chapter 1.

The complaint was first submitted at a police station on December 27. Later, on January 23, a Court directed the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru to register an FIR based on the complaint, taking the matter forward through a formal legal process.

Karnataka High Court lawyer Prashant Methal had earlier filed a written complaint on November 28, alleging that the actor mocked their deity on stage at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival held in Goa.

Allegations and legal proceedings

According to the complaint, the actor insulted Goddess Chamundadevi at the closing ceremony of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa. He had allegedly imitated the divine form of the goddess as shown in the Kannada film Kantara: Chapter 1.

The lawyer representing the complainant stated that the actor presented several obscene, objectionable and ridiculous matters, which, according to him, amounted to an assault on religious sentiments. Although the actor later apologised for the incident, complaints have continued to be filed against him one after another. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for April 8.

He added that he has become a huge admirer of Shetty’s acting and stressed that he deeply respects every culture, tradition and belief in the country. The actor concluded by offering a sincere apology to anyone whose sentiments may have been hurt.
