The much-awaited India debut concert of rapper and music producer Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has been cancelled. The artist was scheduled to perform in New Delhi on May 23.

Organisers confirmed on Friday that the event would not go ahead due to “security advisories and directives issued by the concerned government and law enforcement authorities".

Organisers issue official statement

An official statement released by entertainment company White Fox said the decision was made keeping public safety in mind.

“We are deeply disheartened to announce that Ye Live in India, scheduled for 23rd May 2026 in New Delhi, will not be able to proceed due to directives issued by officials. After months of planning and preparation for what was set to be one of the largest live productions ever staged in India, the safety and well-being of attendees and the citizens of India remain our highest priority during this sensitive time. We extend our sincere gratitude to every fan, partner, crew member, and supporter who stood with us throughout this journey."

The organisers added that efforts are underway to secure a fresh date and venue for the concert in the future.

Refund process announced

White Fox also confirmed that ticket holders would receive complete refunds for their bookings.

“Full refunds will be issued to all valid ticket holders who purchased through the official ticketing partner, District, within 5-7 business days. We are currently working with the artist’s team to secure a new date and venue," the statement continued.

The cancellation disappointed fans who were eagerly waiting for Ye’s first-ever performance in India.

How did people react?

Reacting to the announcement, people poured their outrage on Instagram. "Thanks for wasting everyone’s money on flights and hotels," said one.

Another asked, "Everything’s happening in Delhi, IPL and every other event but Ye can’t come????"

"To all the future concert organisers this is a lesson for you to not put exclusive shows in delhi, if it was mumbai kanye would be soldout," wrote one fan.

Anger took over many fans as they wished for the "company to be shut down" and wrote, "I sincerely hope White Fox shuts down after this."

One wrote, "LOW SALES. BAD PLANNING. THATS THE ISSUE. ALL CONCERTS ARE HAPPENING BUT THIS. ALOT OF MY FRIENDS HAD TO BEAR LOSS OF FLIGHTS TWICE! TWICE!"

One fan asked the company to stop providing false reasoning and wrote, "If you’re not capable of hosting an event of this scale, then kindly refrain from taking the initiative to do so. IPL matches are being conducted as usual, on 17th May in the same stadium there’s also an ISL match scheduled but suddenly, when it comes to this event, there seems to be an issue. At the very least, own up to your mistakes instead of giving false reasoning."

"I didn’t book after the postponement, had full faith in your incompetence," said yet another person.
