A 20-year-old pregnant YouTuber was allegedly murdered by her husband in Telangana’s Jagtial district, police said on Wednesday. The victim, identified as Vaishnavi, was found dead at her parents’ home in Madhapur village.

According to police, Vaishnavi was three months pregnant at the time of the incident. Her husband, Chittari Hariprasad, has been arrested in connection with the case. Police said the victim’s parents discovered her body on Tuesday and alerted authorities. She was reportedly found lying in a pool of blood inside the house.

Korutla police inspector Suresh said investigators suspect the accused attacked his wife late Monday night and fled the scene. "He allegedly strangled her and stabbed her on the face before escaping," the officer said.

Marriage tensions and dowry harassment under probe

Police said the couple had been married for about ten months. Vaishnavi ran a YouTube channel where she shared videos about her daily life and family activities and had around 50,000 subscribers.

Hariprasad, who previously worked as a receptionist at a government hospital before quitting his job recently, had also appeared in several of her videos.

Investigators said the couple initially lived with Hariprasad’s family but later moved to Vaishnavi’s parents’ house due to frequent disputes between the families. According to the victim’s father, S R Durgaprasad, Vaishnavi had faced dowry harassment from her husband as well as his relatives. Police said tensions had reportedly intensified in recent weeks, and neighbours had also noticed arguments between the couple. A heated dispute was reportedly heard on Monday night before the incident.

Authorities are now examining whether Hariprasad’s family members played any role in the alleged harassment.

Accused arrested, investigation underway

Based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father, police arrested Hariprasad shortly after the incident.

Officials said he will be produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody. The body was handed over to the family after a postmortem examination, police added. Investigators are continuing to probe the circumstances surrounding the crime and possible involvement of other family members.
