A woman in Agra died by suicide after accusing a police constable of years of physical and mental exploitation during a live-in relationship. In videos recorded before her death, she alleged that the constable had promised to marry her but later refused and that her attempts to seek help brought no action, NDTV reported.

Allegations against police constable

In the videos, the woman reportedly claimed that JV Gautam, a constable posted at the Tajganj Police Station in Agra, was in a live-in relationship with her for four years. She said he kept her like a wife on the promise of marriage but eventually declined to marry her.

According to her, she faced both physical and mental exploitation during this period. She also alleged that when she approached the police station to file a complaint, she was told that no action could be taken and that the constable would escape punishment.

The woman further said Gautam had told her that his family would not permit their marriage.

"His elder brother, on one hand, is telling me to get married. And on the other hand, JV Gautam told me that my family won't let him marry me. I am saying that don't get married but at least don't deceive any girl," the woman said in the video, as reported by NDTV.

Claims of harassment and betrayal

In the same videos, she alleged that the constable and his family had manipulated and mentally troubled her.

"JV Gautam and his entire family is the reason for my death. They have manipulated me so much. They have mentally disturbed me so much that they have forced me to die."

She also said that after living together for years, the constable was now preparing to marry another woman.

Appeal for justice

Before her death, the woman appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the videos. She said she did not receive justice while alive and hoped that justice would be delivered after her death.

According to preliminary information, the woman was originally from Kasganj district in Uttar Pradesh. She had previously been divorced and was working in a private job in Agra when she met the constable, NDTV reported.
