Several Hard Rock Cafe outlets across India have closed after Hard Rock International terminated its franchise agreement with JSM Corporation Pvt Ltd, the firm that previously operated the brand’s restaurants and retail stores in the country.

The Florida-based hospitality giant confirmed on Monday that the agreements allowing JSM Corporation and its related entities to run Hard Rock Cafes and Rock Shops in India have officially ended. As a result, multiple outlets in major cities have shut their doors.

The closures affect restaurants in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune and Chandigarh, along with additional locations within Bengaluru and Hyderabad, including airport and tech-hub outlets.

“Hard Rock International has formally terminated its agreements with JSM Corporation Pvt Ltd and related entities covering the right to operate all Hard Rock Cafes and Rock Shops within India,” the company said in a statement.

Closures across major Indian cities

The shutdown impacts ten locations across the country, including Bengaluru, Bengaluru International Airport, Bengaluru Whitefield, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Hyderabad Hitech City, Kolkata, New Delhi and Pune.

For years, these venues served as key nightlife hubs known for hosting live music performances, themed events and DJ nights, drawing both tourists and local audiences. The restaurants also displayed iconic music memorabilia such as guitars, costumes and collectibles linked to international artists.

With their closure, several cities have lost one of their most recognisable live-music destinations.

Only Goa property remains operational

While the cafes have shut down, the company clarified that the Hard Rock Hotel Goa will continue operating. The hotel is not linked to the franchise agreement that was terminated.

Founded in 1971 in London, Hard Rock Cafe grew into a global hospitality brand known for blending dining with music culture. Today, Hard Rock International operates cafes, hotels, casinos and entertainment venues in more than 70 countries.

The company has not disclosed the exact reason behind ending the partnership with JSM Corporation. It also remains unclear whether the brand plans to relaunch restaurant operations in India with a new partner in the future.

For now, the decision effectively brings an end to Hard Rock Cafe’s restaurant network across several major Indian cities.
