Bollywood actor Salman Khan has renamed his upcoming war drama. The film was previously named 'Battle of Galwan' and has now been renamed as 'Maatrubhoomi'.

No release date on new poster

Controversy around the film
A teaser released in December drew mixed reactions. Some viewers felt a scene showing Salman holding a barbed wire bat and facing enemy troops looked similar to a scene from the Game of Thrones episode Battle of the Bastards. Salman Khan also faced criticism for his calm expression during the battle scene. He later defended it, saying his character is that of a colonel and an exaggerated reaction would not match that rank.
China's state-backed outlet Global Times also attacked the film. It claimed the movie "distorts facts" and spreads anti-China sentiment. Despite the controversies, no official update has been given on the new release date.
What is the film about?
The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salma Khan under Salman Khan Films. It also stars Chitrangda Singh. Salman plays an Indian Army colonel. His character leads soldiers against a larger Chinese force. The story is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Eastern Ladakh. The makers say the film portrays courage, sacrifice, and resilience, while also exploring the theme of love and family.
