Melbourne Ashes Test turns chaotic as both teams collapse, with 20 wickets falling on a dramatic opening day

The Ashes series witnessed a bizarre event as both Australia and England went all out in their first innings, also on the first day of the game. Winning the toss, England chose to bowl first at Melbourne. It is the fourth match of the series, and Australia has already won the first three matches dominantly. For England, they will look to this match as one of their last chances to get their first win in the series amid drinking allegations and controversies.

These ashes remained mostly one-sided and England only made it on the field for a total of 11 days. Ben Stokes and company did not turn up to their full potential against a simple Australian team. Not just in batting, England failed everywhere and in every aspect of the game.

On Friday, England put Australia to bat first and made Australia feel trouble for the first time in the series as they were only able to make 152 runs, England in reply also failed to convert the momentum and got all out in just 110 runs.

Ashes all out in one day

Batting first Australia only survived for 45. 2 overs and made 152 runs, Michael Neser who is playing his fourth test and the first day test in his career made 35 runs and Khawaja scored 29 runs to help the Kangaroos to reach a respectable total, Josh Tongue took 5 wickets to destroy the batting line up and Brydon Carse and Stokes took 1 wicket each while Gus Atkinson clinched 2 wickets.

Though , this did not help England as Australia took the bones out of England once again forcing them to stop at just 110 runs. Harry Brook continued the fight with 41 runs and Gus Atkinson made 28 runs.

Michael Neser took 4 wickets and Boland took 3 wickets to disrupt the batting line-up. Mitchell Starc took 2 wickets and Green took 1wicket.

After day 1 Australia is now batting with four runs.

This is the third time that 20 wickets have fallen in a day in Australia. In 1901, in a match between Australia and England, 25 wickets fell on the first day. It was the highest number of wickets taken in a day at any test in Australia.
