The Delhi Government has prohibited the direct sale of LPG cylinders from storage godowns, tightening control over the distribution system to curb irregularities. Officials said oil marketing companies have issued strict instructions to distributors, making it unlawful to sell cylinders directly from storage points. The move is aimed at plugging leakages and ensuring that LPG reaches consumers only through authorised delivery channels.
Govt assures stable supply
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the LPG supply in the capital is being closely monitored to prevent shortages and ensure smooth delivery. She urged residents not to crowd gas agencies or storage points, adding that booked cylinders are being delivered within the stipulated time. According to the Hindustan Times, over 1.14 lakh bookings were recorded on April 4, while more than 1.31 lakh cylinders were delivered, with an average delivery time of around 4.24 days.
Crackdown on hoarding and black marketing
Authorities have stepped up enforcement to tackle hoarding and black marketing. Delhi Police conducted raids at multiple locations, while the Food and Supplies Department inspected dozens of gas agencies and storage facilities across the city. A dedicated control room has also been set up to monitor supply and respond to complaints, with helplines issued for public assistance.
