FIFA has agreed to a three-month delay in the elections of the All India Football Federation (AIFF). FIFA said it has no objection to the delay and reiterated its willingness to support AIFF through the process and work closely with it. In a letter last week, Emile Doms, associations governance services manager at FIFA, asked the federation to keep both FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) informed about further steps.

“We kindly ask that you keep FIFA and the AFC informed of any further steps in the amendment process of the AIFF constitution and, in particular, to share with us a document outlining the key amendments and necessary steps required with tentative timelines to ensure compliance with the NSGA,” Doms wrote.

Meanwhile, AIFF has directed its member associations to complete the adoption of amendments to their constitutional documents by June 30, 2026. The move is part of the broader effort to align with governance norms and ensure compliance with the National Sports Governance Act (NSGA) as the federation prepares for its delayed elections.
