The budget session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly is likely to commence on March 16, marking the beginning of key discussions on the national capital’s financial planning for the upcoming fiscal year. Officials said the session is expected to last about two weeks and will focus on the presentation of the Delhi government’s annual budget for 2026–27.
Budget and economic survey expected during session
According to TOI, the session will begin with an address by the Lieutenant Governor, followed by the presentation of the Economic Survey of Delhi and the annual budget.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also holds the finance portfolio, is expected to present the budget for the financial year 2026–27 during the session. The budget will outline the government’s spending plans, policy priorities and sector-wise allocations for the coming year.
Officials said that after the budget presentation, members of the House will hold detailed discussions on the financial proposals before voting on demands for grants and passing the necessary finance and appropriation bills.

Legislative business and CAG reports on agenda
Apart from the budget-related business, the Assembly session is also expected to take up other legislative matters. These include discussions on pending reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), which examine government spending and administrative performance.
Standard parliamentary procedures such as Question Hour and Zero Hour are also expected to take place on days when budget discussions are not scheduled. These segments allow legislators to raise issues related to governance, policies and public grievances.
Political observers expect the session to be lively, with opposition members likely to question the government on several civic and administrative issues affecting Delhi residents.
