Noida International Airport is preparing for a major expansion in its flight schedule from July, with daily services expected to rise from the current 12 to around 40-45. The increase will allow passengers to travel directly to 16-17 destinations, marking a significant step in the airport's phased rollout.

According to a report by The Times of India, the first 10 days of operations were focused on stabilising systems and addressing initial operational issues. With those processes underway, airlines are now set to scale up services.

At present, IndiGo and Akasa Air operate six arrivals and six departures daily, connecting the airport with Navi Mumbai, Jammu, Amritsar, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. From next month, the domestic network is expected to include Mumbai, Srinagar, Bareilly, Bhopal, Dehradun, Dharamshala, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kishangarh, Lucknow and Pantnagar.

Commercial passenger operations at the airport began on June 15 when IndiGo operated its first scheduled service from Lucknow before continuing to Bengaluru.

International terminal nearing completion

The airport is also moving closer to launching international operations. During a Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) board meeting held in Lucknow on Tuesday, officials reviewed the progress of the international terminal and the airport's overall readiness.

Per the TOI report, officials said work on the international terminal is advancing quickly and has reached its final stage. The remaining construction is expected to be completed within the next three to four months, paving the way for the airport to launch international flight operations before the end of 2026.

Expansion plans continue despite challenges

Alongside the operational expansion, work is being planned for the airport's next phase, which includes the construction of a second runway and additional aviation infrastructure.

Industry sources quoted by TOI said the airport still faces challenges, including dependence on relatively expensive taxi services and slower-than-expected growth in local passenger traffic. However, airport officials said the facility has strong road connectivity through a six-lane expressway and AC electric bus services operated by YEIDA.

Officials added that discussions with both domestic and international airlines are ongoing to further strengthen the airport's route network in the coming months.
