The Indian T20I team is set for a fresh era, after dominating the world for the second time in a row. The management has decided to move towards a new plan and has replaced Shreyas Iyer as captain with defending World Cup-winning captain Surya Kumar Yadav. Surya, who was running out of form for a very long time in international cricket, has also struggled in the recent IPL season; on the other hand, Shreyas Iyer, as captain and batter, both did a phenomenal job with KKR and PBKS.

The Ireland series starts on 26th June at 6pm, and will be Shreyas Iyer’s very first assignment as captain on the international level. With a few senior players unavailable for the series, the Ireland series is definitely going to be testing for the new Indian captain.

Conditions and challenge

It is summertime in Ireland, and the conditions are going to remain cloudy. Rain is expected to be in the vicinity during the scheduled match hours, but the forecast is unlikely to cause a complete washout. The pitch retained a noticeable green tinge two days before the game, suggesting assistance for the seamers, particularly under cloudy conditions.

While batters should still find opportunities to score freely, the fast bowlers are expected to enjoy favourable movement early on if the overcast weather persists.

Team and combination

The unavailability of Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy can make way for Shruyansh Shedge, who has got his maiden India call-up in this series. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi may also have to wait for his debut. Harshit Rana with Washington is likely to handle the all-rounder department.

Probable XI

Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer (c), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Harshit Rana, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav
