A Pakistani terrorist was killed during a joint operation carried out by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Uri sector of Baramulla district. The operation was launched after security forces received intelligence inputs about an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC). Acting swiftly, troops intercepted the infiltrator and neutralised him after a brief exchange of fire.
Infiltration bid foiled in uri sector
The operation was carried out in the Buchhar area of the Uri sector during the intervening night of March 14 and 15. According to officials, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a coordinated operation after receiving credible intelligence regarding suspicious movement near the LoC.
Security forces laid an ambush in the area to intercept the infiltrator. When challenged by the troops, the terrorist opened fire, which led to a gunfight between the two sides.
Arms and ammunition recovered
During the exchange of fire, the infiltrating terrorist was killed by security forces. Officials confirmed that the infiltration attempt had been successfully foiled.
Security forces also recovered weapons and other war-like stores from the site of the encounter, including an AK rifle, pistols and ammunition. Following the operation, search operations were carried out in the surrounding area to ensure no other militants were hiding nearby.
