A woman in Delhi has alleged that she was molested by an Uber bike driver during a late-night ride in the city. According to her account, the driver also threatened to kill her when she tried to protest against his behaviour. The incident has once again raised concerns about passenger safety, especially for women travelling alone using app-based bike taxi services.
Incident during late-night ride
According to the Hindustan Times, the incident took place around 1:28 am on March 12. She had booked a bike ride through the Uber app from Rohini Sector 15 to the MP Block market in Pitampura. The driver, identified on the app as Sachin, arrived to pick her up, and the ride began as scheduled.
The woman alleged that soon after the journey started, the driver began behaving inappropriately and repeatedly made unwanted physical contact. When she objected to his actions, he allegedly increased the speed of the bike and applied sudden brakes, which made the situation more frightening for her.

Victim says driver threatened her
The woman further claimed that when she asked the driver to stop the vehicle, he grabbed her from behind and molested her. She also alleged that he threatened to kill her if she tried to shout or create a scene. The driver is also said to have deviated from the route shown in the app during the ride.
Fearing for her safety, the woman started shouting and even threatened to jump off the moving motorcycle. Following this, the driver reportedly stopped near Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in the F-U Block area of Pitampura, dropped her there, and fled from the spot.
Authorities have acknowledged receiving the womanās allegations, and an investigation is underway to verify the details of the incident. The case has also reignited discussions about safety measures for passengers using ride-hailing services in the national capital.
The disturbing incident highlights the continuing concerns around womenās safety during late-night travel. As police look into the allegations, the case has again drawn attention to the need for stricter verification of drivers and stronger safety systems on ride-sharing platforms.
