Rapper Badshah is facing growing controversy following the release of his song Tateeree on March 1, 2026. The track’s lyrics and visuals have triggered widespread outrage, leading to legal action and an alleged death threat.
A Facebook post, purportedly from associates of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, began circulating on Sunday. The post appeared to threaten Badshah’s life. However, Hindustan Times reported that the authenticity of the post could not be independently verified.
Legal trouble and official action
The controversy began after Tateeree was accused of depicting girls in school uniforms dancing inside a Haryana Roadways bus and making objectionable gestures.

Following the backlash, Haryana Police registered an FIR and initiated a lookout notice against the rapper over the allegations. The Haryana State Commission for Women also issued a notice on March 6, directing Badshah to appear in Panipat by 3 PM on Friday.
When the rapper failed to appear before the commission, its chairperson reportedly called for his arrest and instructed authorities to seize his passport, according to PTI, in order to prevent him from leaving the country.
The alleged threat
The alleged threat surfaced through a Facebook account named Randeep Malik Anil Pandit, who claims links to the Bishnoi gang.
The post read, "Singer Badshah, you tried to spoil the culture of Haryana. Earlier in 2024, we showed you a trailer at your club; this time, we will shoot you directly in the forehead."
The message also claimed that the rapper had previously received warnings through a phone call. It further stated that the alleged associates had taken responsibility for a recent firing incident in Panipat.
Badshah’s apology
Badshah later addressed the controversy through a video posted on Instagram on March 7, 2026. In the video, he acknowledged the backlash and said, "I never intended to say anything objectionable against any woman or child from Haryana. I am from the hip-hop genre where lyrics often show looking down on competitors. These are never for any woman or child."
He concluded the video with an apology, stating, "I have always tried to take Haryanvi language and culture to new heights. But if anyone is hurt, I seek an apology. I expect that you will forgive me by considering me the son of Haryana."
