Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital late on Tuesday, hospital sources confirmed. The Rajya Sabha MP is currently under medical care, with doctors closely monitoring her condition.
According to a Hindustan Times report, sources said Gandhi is undergoing treatment and remains under observation as a precaution. While no detailed medical bulletin has been released in the latest instance, hospital authorities indicated that her condition is stable.
Recent history of respiratory issues
This is not the first time the 79-year-old leader has been hospitalised in recent months. In January, she was admitted to the same hospital after experiencing respiratory discomfort. At the time, doctors had diagnosed a mild exacerbation of her bronchial asthma, Hospital Chairman Ajay Swaroop had then stated.

“She was experiencing respiratory discomfort, and upon medical examination, it was found that her bronchial asthma had been mildly exacerbated due to the combined effects of cold weather and pollution. As a precautionary measure, she was admitted for further observation and treatment. At present, her condition is absolutely stable”, Swaroop had stated, adding that she was treated with antibiotics and supportive care before being discharged after observation.
Precautionary medical care
Doctors had earlier clarified that her admission was precautionary, aimed at ensuring proper monitoring and management of her symptoms. Similar caution appears to have guided the current admission, although specific details of her present condition have not been disclosed.
