Class 10 pass? Here's how you can apply for India Post GDS recruitment which begins on January 31

Branch Postmaster, Gramin Dak Sevaks and Assistant Branch Postmaster are among the posts available

The India Post has issued a recruitment advertisement for 28,740 Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) in India. Applications are open from January 31, 2026, and eligible candidates can find the application form on the official website indiapostgdsonline.gov.in.

Branch Postmaster (BPM), Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) are among the posts available.

Eligibility and salary

All candidates applying for these positions must have completed Class 10 and be between 18 and 40 years old. The recruitment process will not involve a written test and candidates will be selected solely based on the merit list compiled from their Class 10 marks.

The salary for ABPM and GDS positions varies from Rs 10,000 to Rs 24,470 per month, while salaries for BPM positions can range from Rs 12,000 to Rs 29,380 per month.

Merit list on February 28

The comprehensive notice of the recruitment process will be issued on January 31 and the process for registering will also commence on the same date and continue until February 14. Deadline for payment of application fees will cease after February 16, 2026.

Candidates will be allowed to amend their applications between February 18 and 19, and the merit list will be released on February 28, 2026. The first shortlist of candidates will featuring the division name, office, post name, community, registration number, percentage of marks obtained and document verification venue.

How to apply?

To apply for the posts, a candidate needs to visit the official website: indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. On the homepage, click on GDS 2026 Registration after which all the required details need to be filled in. Once this is completed, the candidate will be successfully registered for the post.
