SBI Youth for India Fellowship 2026 opens: Check eligibility, how to apply and more

SBI Foundation has opened applications for its 13-month Youth for India Fellowship, offering young graduates an opportunity to work on rural development projects across 12 thematic areas.

The State Bank of India (SBI) Youth for India Fellowship 2026-27 is now open for applications. Launched by the SBI Foundation, this 13-month fellowship is for young individuals who are interested in immersing themselves in rural settings and understanding grassroots development concepts through practical field experience.

Interested candidates can apply through the official website at register.youthforindia.org.

A year in rural India

The fellowship is designed for graduates who are keen to contribute to rural development while gaining experience in the field. The Fellows will be placed in rural villages across India for 13 months, working with grassroots organisations.

During this period, fellows will work on real-world problems in education, livelihood, health, environment, women's empowerment, and other community development sectors. This fellowship provides extensive experience in rural India and helps the Fellows develop skills and experience in leadership.

Who can apply?

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Must have completed a Bachelor’s degree on or before October 4, 2026

Must be an Indian citizen, a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan, or an Overseas Citizen of India or NRI

Must be between 21 and 32 years of age on the day of commencement of the programme. Candidates should have been born not earlier than August 4, 1994, and not later than October 5, 2005.

Selection process and support

The fellowship process consists of two phases. First, the applicants are required to register online, submit their application, and undertake an evaluation test. The candidates who are shortlisted are required to participate in group exercises and a personal interaction with the selection panel.

Selected Fellows are provided with a monthly allowance for living, assistance with transport and project requirements, language assistance, and continuous mentorship throughout the fellowship period. Upon successful completion, they are awarded a completion certificate and a readjustment allowance.
