The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has unveiled a significant step towards strengthening its grassroots and elite cricket structure by appointing two Bengal stalwarts to key roles in its Vision 2028 programme. Former India fast bowler Ashok Dinda has been named Head of Vision 2028 and Fast Bowling Coach, while former left-arm spinner Utpal Chatterjee will take charge as Spin Bowling Coach.

The appointments were announced through an official media release issued by CAB president Sourav Ganguly. The programme is scheduled to begin in July and is expected to play a central role in shaping the future of Bengal cricket over the next few years.

Known for his extensive domestic experience and contributions to Bengal cricket, the former India pacer is expected to focus on nurturing the next generation of fast bowlers while overseeing the programme's broader objectives.

His appointment signals CAB’s intent to utilise the expertise of former players who have excelled at the highest levels of domestic and international cricket.

Vision 2028 to focus on long-term growth

According to CAB, Vision 2028 is a key developmental project designed to promote and improve player growth throughout Bengal. The initiative will not be limited to specialist coaches alone.

Head coaches and assistant coaches from Bengal’s Under-16, Under-19, Under-23 and Ranji Trophy teams will also be integrated into the programme whenever required. The collaborative structure is expected to create a seamless pathway for players as they progress through different levels of the state system.
