Rafael Leão could be on the move this summer after AC Milan reportedly made him available for transfer. The winger, once valued at over 100 million, is now expected to cost around 50 million as the Italian club looks to offload high earners and rebalance finances.
Reports suggest Leão’s strained relationship with manager Massimiliano Allegri has accelerated the decision. Despite signing a contract extension until 2028 with a 170 million release clause, Milan are now open to significantly lower offers due to his inconsistent performances and dressing room concerns this season.
Barcelona aware but not actively pursuing deal
FC Barcelona have long admired Leão, with club president Joan Laporta reportedly a big fan of the Portuguese international. The Catalan club had previously explored a move when Nico Williams opted to remain at Athletic Club, but financial constraints made a deal impossible at the time.
Now, with Leão being offered again, reportedly via super-agent Jorge Mendes. Barcelona are aware of the opportunity but have not made any concrete approach. Their cautious stance reflects ongoing financial considerations and a more focused transfer strategy.

Left-wing dilemma linked to Rashford future
Barcelona’s decision may also hinge on the future of Marcus Rashford, who remains a potential long-term option on the left wing. The club is considering activating a 30 million purchase clause for Rashford while negotiating a reduced salary package.

Alternatively, Barcelona may invest in a younger, developmental prospect rather than a high-profile signing like Leão. While the Portuguese winger fits the profile of a dynamic attacker, he is not currently seen as a priority target. For now, Barcelona appear focused on balancing finances and squad planning, even as an opportunity to sign a proven Serie A star emerges at a relatively reduced price.
