A rift between Mohun Bagan and AIFF has emerged and covered the headlines for the last one day. At first, the All-India Football Federation ordered Mohun Bagan Super Giant to play their March 6 Indian Super League home match against Odisha FC behind closed doors after repeated spectator misconduct during the probation period. Then, Mohun Bagan Super Giants countered, saying, “While the Club has responsibly accepted the financial penalty imposed, AIFF has gone to the extreme of ordering a FULL stadium closure for our home game against Odisha FC on 6 March 2026."
They also shared their disappointment in X and wrote, “We are deeply disappointed with the AIFF Disciplinary Committee’s decision to impose a full stadium closure for our home fixture on 6 March 2026.”
They also appealed to reconsider the decision, writing, “Our appeal to reconsider this decision in the interest of our fans has not been accepted.”

After that, AIFF reconsidered their decision and modified the earlier full stadium closure to a partial closure for our upcoming home fixture.
What actually happened?
The All-India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee has ordered a full stadium closure for Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s next home match after the club was found guilty of repeated spectator misconduct.
The issue traces back to April 12, 2025, during an Indian Super League match against Bengaluru FC, when fireworks were allegedly launched from the home stands into the away section, injuring fans and even striking the Bengaluru FC owner. In June 2025, the AIFF imposed a stadium closure sanction but suspended it for one year under probation. However, during the ISL 2025–26 season opener against Kerala Blasters FC on February 14, 2026, multiple instances of pyrotechnics were again reported at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata.

The committee ruled that the club violated the probation terms. As a result, the earlier suspended punishment has been automatically enforced, meaning Mohun Bagan’s March 6 home match against Odisha FC will be played behind closed doors.
