Camera upgrades
One of the more notable leaks suggests that at least one rear camera may feature a mechanical iris, allowing variable aperture control. This hardware level change could improve exposure quality and depth of field in challenging lighting conditions, reducing reliance on heavy software based image processing.
Launch time
Leaks also point to a potential change in Apple’s launch plans while the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to arrive in September 2026, the base iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and the next generation iPhone Air could be pushed to early 2027 making a split launch.
