On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi re-shared a video posted by the social media influencer Yuvraj Dua in response to the latter's light-hearted request regarding the reduction of sugar intake. The social media engagement started with a post on Instagram.

What did Yuvraj Dua say?

In the reel, Dua playfully spoke about his father’s admiration for the Prime Minister. He suggested that if Modi spoke about cutting sugar in his radio programme Mann Ki Baat, his father might finally take the advice seriously.

“Mr Modi, I have a humble request. Since your words are instructions to my father, if you say something against sugar intake in the next 'Mann Ki Baat', my father's sugar consumption might reduce,” Dua said in the video.

PM Modi’s response

Responding to the post, Modi shared the reel and echoed the message with a broader appeal for healthy living. “On Yuvraj's request, I will urge his father (and everyone else out there) to reduce sugar intake... be healthy, be happy!” he wrote.

In a follow-up message shared on Instagram Stories, the Prime Minister stressed the health risks linked to excessive sugar consumption. He highlighted concerns such as obesity and other diseases, and encouraged people to adopt healthier eating habits. He also urged citizens to include yoga in their daily routine to stay fit and active.

“Focus on your wellbeing. Eat Well. Eat Healthy. Excessive sugar invites a range of diseases. Then, of course, there is the looming threat of obesity. Also, do make Yoga a part of your lives. It is a great way to remain fit and active”, he wrote.

Who is Yuvraj Dua?

Dua is a content creator from Delhi, and he started making funny videos during the pandemic.

Dua rose to fame in 2023 after working as a dialect coach for actor Ranveer Singh in the film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which helped in creating the Punjabi accent of the character Rocky Randhawa.

Dua has worked in other films like Pyaar aur Armaan (2024) and Twin Flames Part II (2025).

Commenting on the post by the Prime Minister, Dua said, “Surreal sa ho gaya yeh toh, kahan pahunch gayi video. Would have never thought (This has become quite surreal; look how far the video has reached. I would have never thought).”
