The Gudi, placed outside homes, is considered a symbol of success and protection, and it is believed to drive away negative energies and invite happiness and good fortune.

Customs and celebrations

On this day, devotees wake up early, take a ritual bath, and decorate their homes with rangoli and mango leaves. A Gudi is prepared using a bamboo stick, bright silk cloth, neem and mango leaves, and a kalash placed on top. It is then hoisted at the entrance or window as a mark of celebration. People pray to Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu, seeking blessings for health, wealth, and prosperity and a happy life.
