Importance of Sehri and Iftar in Ramadan

Sehri, also known as Suhoor, is the pre-dawn meal consumed before the Fajr prayer, marking the start of the daily fast. From that point until sunset, observers refrain from eating and drinking as part of Ramadan’s spiritual discipline. Iftar is the meal taken at sunset during the Maghrib prayer to break the fast. Traditionally, it begins with dates and water, followed by a larger meal shared with family and community. Since sunrise and sunset times shift each day slightly, Sehri and Iftar timings continue to change throughout the holy month.
