Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai sells shares worth millions; here’s how many he still owns

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai sold 30,521 Class C shares worth $10.6 million in January. SEC filings show he still holds shares valued at $72.4 million.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai sold 30,521 shares of the company last week through multiple transactions, according to filings with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. While insider stake sales are common among technology executives, the transactions have drawn attention to Pichai’s remaining shareholding in Alphabet.

On January 21, Pichai sold the shares across 12 transactions. All the shares were Class C capital stock, collectively valued at $10.637 million. Each share was sold in the price range of $320 to $331.

How Many Alphabet Shares Does Pichai Still Hold?

Following the sale, Sundar Pichai now holds 221,872 Class C capital stock of Alphabet, valued at approximately $72.4 million. In addition, he also owns Class A capital stock of Alphabet. These shares, however, cannot be traded on the open market and are typically allocated to company executives.

The recent transactions are not the first instance of Pichai selling Alphabet shares. In December last year, he sold 32,500 shares on December 15 for $9.7435 million. Earlier that month, on December 3, he sold another 32,500 shares worth $10.383 million.

In November last year, as well, Pichai carried out multiple share sales. On November 19, he sold 32,500 shares for $9.6408 million, followed by another sale of 32,500 shares on November 5, valued at $9.2131 million.
