Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana look as Lord Ram to be unveiled on April 2, confirms Namit Malhotra.

Namit Malhotra, producer of Ramayana, has confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor’s first official look as Lord Ram in the film, will be unveiled on April 2, coinciding with the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The announcement was made on Ram Navami, putting to rest earlier speculation that the reveal would take place on the same day.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being positioned as one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. The project has already created significant buzz both in India and internationally, ahead of its planned global theatrical release.

What did the producer say?

Malhotra took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a heartfelt note about the team's work. "This is a story that belongs to all of us, and every step we take has been guided by a deep sense of responsibility, devotion, and care to bring our very own Ramayana to life in its truest spirit and scale with utmost sincerity," he wrote.

On the upcoming reveal, he added to the caption, "We look forward to sharing the next glimpse, Rama, on 2nd April, on the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, as we begin to showcase all these years of our effort through a grand launch with fans to celebrate this moment, across the world."

He concluded the post with, "Thank you for your love, faith, and patience."

Fans are excited

Reactions from fans have poured in across social media. One user wrote: "God bless you and your team. Eagerly waiting for the movie.One thing I'd like to say: Everything seems fine, only one weak point can be the casting of Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita. Im a huge fan on S Pallavi but im unable to imagine her as Mata Sita."

Meanwhile, excitement around Yash's portrayal of Ravana continues to build, with one fan urging the makers to release more material: "Release Teaser atleast and give glimpse of yash as ravana, it will increase movie hype like volcano.” Another user added, “Very Excited."

On Instagram also, fans went crazy, "Can't wait for 2nd April," commented a fan. "Can't wait to see Ranbir shine as Lord Rama," read another comment.

About cast of Ramayana

The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana.

According to a report by Variety, Kapoor, director Nitesh Tiwari, and producer Namit Malhotra are expected to attend a media event in the United States, marking the film’s first major international promotional push.

The film will be released in two parts, with Part 1 scheduled for a global release on Diwali 2026 and Part 2 expected to follow on Diwali 2027.

Filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli and the team behind Varanasi also marked the occasion by sharing a teaser clip featuring a Ramayana battle scene. Their post read, “You’ll see him in theatres by next Sri Rama Navami.”

The film is currently confirmed for a theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
