Production on the second instalment of director Nitesh Tiwari's mythological epic Ramayana has commenced in Mumbai. Lead actor Ranbir Kapoor plays the role of Lord Rama in part 2. The film's ensemble cast includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Naveen Kumar Gowda, known professionally as Yash, as Ravana, is expected to join the shoot in the coming days, according to a report by India Today.

Sai Pallavi, who portrays Sita in the two-part saga, is also part of the project. The new schedule spans approximately two months and centres on the narrative arc following Sita's abduction, including Lord Rama's journey toward Lanka.

A source cited by India Today described the upcoming schedule in detail: "It is an almost two-month schedule with some really heavy-duty action and drama planned. The story will move towards Lord Ram's journey towards Lanka, and the filmmakers have already built lavish sets for the same. There are also a lot of scenes between Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, and the two actors will be filming those."

Cast commitments before joining the set

Sunny Deol is currently occupied with a project for Excel Entertainment, which is directed by AR Murugadoss. He is expected to join the Ramayana Part 2 set over the weekend. Ranbir Kapoor had previously been filming Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, before transitioning to this new schedule.
