Two people lost their lives, and over 20 others were injured after a double-decker bus overturned near Jhandewalan Temple in the early hours of Wednesday in Delhi's Karol Bagh area. The double-decker bus was heading from Rajasthan's Jaipur to Delhi at the time of the accident. The bus had around 25 people on board.
According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the police were informed about the accident at 1:08 am. After this, police teams were deployed to the spot to take necessary action. Rescue work was done throughout the night as the police tried to pull the passengers out of the overturned bus.

Injured shifted to nearby hospitals
The injured were taken for treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. So far, the authorities have not given information on the condition of the injured.

Preliminary report suggested that the driver might have lost control of the bus, which led to the accident as the bus overturned. However, the police claim that the actual cause of the accident is still to be ascertained. A detailed investigation has been launched to understand the sequence of events leading to the accident and whether the driver's speed, road conditions, or mechanical failures contributed in any way.

This accident comes on the heels of another fatal accident involving a private double-decker bus on the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras. In this accident, at least six people died as the bus, which was heading from Delhi to Gorakhpur, rammed into a moving van while attempting to overtake it.
