Kolkata’s daily commuters are set to face a major disruption as Uber has announced that its Shuttle service in the city will be discontinued from April 2, 2026.
Service to stop completely from April 2
The company informed users through an email, stating that the service will no longer be available after the specified date and will also be removed from the app. This means commuters who relied on fixed-route Shuttle rides for office travel will now need to look for alternative options. Uber has also assured users that any unused balance in Shuttle subscriptions will be fully refunded.

Commuters likely to feel the impact
The shutdown is expected to affect daily travel across the city. During peak office hours, buses, metro services and other public transport systems may witness increased crowding. For many commuters, this could also lead to higher travel costs. Uber has already been scaling down its shuttle operations across India, and the decision to shut the service in Kolkata is part of that broader move.

With the service ending, commuters will now have to depend on options such as government buses, metro, carpooling or other app-based transport services. Newer alternatives like CityFlo may also offer some relief to a section of passengers. The closure of Uber Shuttle marks a significant change in Kolkata’s daily commute landscape. As the city adjusts, finding reliable and affordable alternatives will be crucial for thousands of office-goers.
