A 20-year-old youth allegedly shot himself while on a video call with his parents in Malda’s Kaliachak on Sunday night. The incident took place in Srirampur area and has shocked local residents.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Jabbar. He belonged to a poor family. His father works as a bidi worker, and Abdul also worked with him.

Incident took place in field
According to police and family sources, Abdul went to an open field near Shekhpura, close to his home, on Sunday night. From there, he made a video call to his father. His mother was also present during the call.
During the conversation, Abdul suddenly shot himself in the head. The incident happened in front of his parents through the video call, leaving them in shock.
After receiving the information, family members and neighbours rushed to the field. They found Abdul lying in a blood-soaked condition.

Declared dead, investigation on
He was immediately rescued and taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police reached the spot soon after the incident was reported. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination at Malda Medical College.
The exact reason behind the incident is still not clear. Police have started an investigation to find out what led to the incident.
The incident has created shock in the area, and local residents are trying to come to terms with what happened.
