Tensions rise after recent violence and hate speech concerns

The court’s observation comes in the backdrop of recent tensions in Uttam Nagar following a violent incident during Holi, where a 26-year-old man was killed after a dispute between two families. Petitioners told the court that there have been instances of hate speech and provocative messages targeting a particular community ahead of Eid. They also raised concerns about threats that could disrupt the peaceful celebration of the festival. The plea further claimed that such speeches and incidents have created fear among residents, with some shops remaining shut and families feeling unsafe.
