India shines at Asia's 50 Best 2026: Two restaurants enter top 30

India has secured two spots in the top 30 of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026, with Masque and NAAR earning recognition for their distinct culinary styles.

The Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2026 list has once again put the spotlight on the finest culinary destinations across the continent. Announced in Hong Kong on March 25, this year's rankings brought recognition for India, with two restaurants securing spots within the top 30.

Two Indian restaurants in the top 30

Mumbai's Masque climbed to the 15th position, improving from its 19th rank in 2025. Led by Varun Totlani, the restaurant is known for its modern Indian cuisine that reimagines traditional ingredients in new ways. Alongside its ranking, Masque also received the Art of Hospitality Award 2026.

Another Indian entry, NAAR, secured the 30th spot. Helmed by Prateek Sadhu, the restaurant focuses on regional flavours, using wild ingredients, seasonal produce and traditional techniques rooted in the Himalayan landscape.

Recognition for Indian chefs abroad

Beyond India, there is one Indian chef who continues to leave a mark on the Asian dining landscape: Gaggan Anand. He continued his strong presence on the list with two restaurants in Bangkok. Gaggan at Louis Vuitton ranked 8th, while Gaggan secured the 3rd position. He was also named the Best Restaurant in Thailand this year, following his top ranking in 2025.

The latest rankings reflect the growing global recognition of Indian cuisine, both within the country and internationally. From the contemporary plates of Mumbai to the ingredient-driven approach in Himachal’s hills, and the experimental dining experiences in Bangkok, Indian chefs continue to expand their presence across the Asian culinary landscape.
