Egypt–Israel peace treaty signed (1979)

On March 26, 1979, Egypt and Israel signed a historic peace treaty in Washington, D.C. This was facilitated by U.S. President Jimmy Carter. The treaty was signed by Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin. This was the first peace treaty between Israel and an Arab nation.
