Japanese golf star Masashi 'Jumbo' Ozaki has breathed his last. He was battling with colon cancer. Ozaki was 78 years old at the time of death. He was one of the most famous figures in world golf. He won 94 times in 29 years on the Japan Golf Tour.
Ozaki is one of the most celebrated names in Japanese sports. He won a total of 113 tournaments in world golf. His influence was greater than his trophies. Many people started playing golf after watching him. Major championship winners have credited Ozaki multiple times.

Ozaki's career
No one in Japan has touched the career success of Masashi Ozaki, and aficionados doubt if anyone ever will. He won the Japan Golf Tour 94 times. He last won a trophy at the ANA Open in 2002. He was 55 years old at that time. From 1994 to 1998, he was at the top of the Japan Golf Tour list for five consecutive years. He won the Japan Open five times and the Japan PGA six times. In 1996, when he was 49, he ranked fifth in the world.
